We are so delighted with this review of Sevati from Light Of Consciousness Magazine for their Winter, 2015 edition. “Gypsy inspiration meets bhakti yoga in this highly recommended album led with sweet devotion.” We love it!
Mirabai Ceiba is a duo consisting of guitarist/singer Markus Sieber and singer/harpist/pianist Angelika Baumbach. Their name comes from Mirabai, a fifteenth century Hindu mystical singer, and Ceiba, a sacred tree of Latin America that is never cut and grows very tall. Sevati features gentle instrumentation with lovingly intertwined voices creating a relaxing, peaceful soundscape, music that comes from their diverse backgrounds and immersion in the Kundalini Yoga tradition. The album opens with Spanish guitar accompaniment to the solo mantra, Har Ji, sung by Markus, followed by the duet, Gobinda Hari (Krishna), featuring Angelika’s lovely harp. The Gurmukhi chant, Rakhe Rakhan Har, a prayer for protection with violin and guitar, highlights their gentle harmonies. Tindu, sung in Spanish, is a stirring Native American chant. Song of the Stars, sung in English, is a beautiful traditional chant from the Algonquin Indians. The soulful Oh Niebla, sung in Spanish, is based upon the poetry of Kahlil Gibran. Gypsy inspiration meets bhakti yoga in this highly recommended album led with sweet devotion.
