The headlining news this week is the Fall Equinox, which is exact on Monday morning for those in North America. This is a time when the Earth is in perfect balance. There is an equal amount of daylight and darkness. It is one of the four cross-quarter points of the year (the others being the solstices and the Spring Equinox). We are halfway between the Summer and Winter solstices. For the days that follow, there will be more darkness than light for those in the Northern Hemisphere as we move closer and closer to the shortest day of the year (the Winter Solstice). For those in the Southern Hemisphere of the globe, the opposite is true. Energetically, it is a time when we feel ourselves starting to turn inward. As we move toward winter, there is an instinct to nest and hunker down. We are entering a period when we feel like the “veil is thin”, meaning that we feel a stronger connection with the spirit world. The barrier between the embodied and disembodied world is not as strong.
Monday also marks the day that the Sun moves into Libra, the sign of peace and balance. For the next four weeks, the sign of the scales will be our touchstone. This will be the background music – the theme that will resonate within all of us, both personally and as a collective. There will be greater outcries for justice in all lands and among different groups of people. There will be a greater call to action for the promotion of peace and sustainability. “Can’t we all just get along” may be the motto while the Sun transits this graceful air sign.
The Leo Moon on Tuesday helps to drive away the blues and remind us to look at the bright side, regardless of the situation. Open your heart and remember that the other person is you! Shower other people with love and be sure to do the same for yourself! Take the lead in situations where you sense the need for a strong role model, especially among children.
The energy on Wednesday starts strong but then falls into a slump during mid-morning/afternoon, depending on your time zone. At 12:14pm EST (9:14am PST), the Moon goes void-of-course and remains so for the duration of the day. For the entire afternoon, we feel off. We have lost our sense of direction and our intuition is out to lunch. You should take the afternoon off as well. This is not a good time to start projects or make any decisions or plans. Instead, just stick to routine tasks.
Thursday’s Virgo Moon asks us to set the record straight and attend to details. Use your analytical mind to solve puzzles and sort through the rubble. Stay grounded and stay on tasks. Just make sure you don’t get too critical of yourself or others if things don’t turn out exactly perfect. Give people a break.
You can get quite a bit of work done on Friday. Stay organized and efficient. Go with the flow and try not to get distracted. Keep your mind in check. It may want to run away from you. Be careful about getting carried away into a scenario that your brain wants to play out just for the fun of it. Mantra will help to keep your mind in check. The album, “Source of Strength: Meditations for Transformation” by Snatam Kaur Khalsa contains two 31-minute tracks (the Mool Mantra and Aap Sahai Hoa) to help you stay focused, contained and strong.
Over the weekend, the big news is the New Moon on Saturday. Take this as a personal day to reflect and reset. It is a time to start fresh. Let go of what no longer works for you and invite in what you would like to manifest. The theme here is love and partnership. Libra is about balance. What needs to change in your love life in order to bring you the relationship that you desire?
Continue this reflection through Sunday and share your dreams with your partner. Open a discussion and put your vision down on paper. The universe is open to your requests at this time.
