Editor’s Note: This is the second of a two-part interview with Harnam. You can read Part 1, where he shares his deep personal connection to the mantras in his upcoming album Removing Obstacles: Meditations for Transformation.
Can you tell us a little bit about who you are – what your passions are?
I am an artist through and through – A painter, musician, and yogi – very blessed to be able to combine these arts and create a life and work that I love.
What are three things you hope to accomplish in your lifetime?
Uhhh…Why do I feel like a Miss America contestant right now? There is only one thing I wish to accomplish in this life: and that is my soul’s mission. Right now I’m playing it by ear and still figuring out what that means.
Can you give us a sneak peak into your creative process?
I just keep showing up everyday for my life and my sadhana (spiritual practice) and that connects me to my own light. Being connected makes us unstoppable; the creativity just flows. The ideas come in quiet moments and then get connected together and ultimately become projects like this one (Removing Obstacles). Much of it happens alone, sitting with a guitar or when I’m driving and then it goes to the next level when you collaborate with other people; that’s when the magic happens. The original “idea” becomes real and takes on a life of its own and the next thing you know there are people on the other side of the world listening, having their own experience and connecting with their own light. Pure Magic!
What do you hope your listeners experience or learn as they listen to your album?
I hope that people are able to drop into themselves and experience their own inner-knowing. We are joyful passionate beings of light and when we resonate with that energy we are unstoppable! Whatever obstacles we experience in this life – we also hold the key to unlock the door and move though them. We are like the butterflies struggling to emerge from our cocoons; in overcoming our challenges we discover our inner strength that enables us to fly.
