A New Year’s Gift
I received a message this morning from a lovely woman who attended my Art and Yoga course a couple of years ago. She and a friend are starting 40 days of the Grace of God meditation with a daily art practice.
Practice twice a day for 40 days on an empty stomach.

Trace your left hand in a journal. I like to use colored pencils but you can use any art materials.
Relax on your back with closed eyes. Inhale and as you hold the breath repeat silently 10 times “I am Grace of God” (men please use the mantra “I am in the Grace of God”). Exhale and hold the breath out as you silently repeat the mantra 10 times. Continue for five breaths – a total of 100 repetitions.
Without opening your eyes come sitting up. Your right hand is on your knee with the first finger and thumb touching. Your left hand is up as if to take an oath. Starting with the pinky finger tense each finger as you say the mantra out loud five times. As you do this meditate on the planet, element and that area of your life (see above image).
Relax the breath and meditate for a few minutes. When you feel ready, pick up your pencils and make some marks, color, words on each finger or anywhere on the page.
You can make two hand tracings per day or use one drawing for the two meditations. I like to project in the morning to what’s coming up and at the end of the day process what happened during the day.
This meditation gives strength, grace and radiance. It balances the five elements, develops patience, effective communication, health and healing ability. It’s said if a woman practices the meditation for a year her aura will become tipped with gold or silver. 2011 is a great year for this, why not start January 1st!
